Bantam Businesses: Pocket Sized Observer and Giveaway!

Hello Lovelies!
I just have to say that I am SO enjoying sharing some of my favorite artists/shop owners with you! These are some amazing people and I know you will love them and their work as much as I do.
So let’s meet our next bantam business owner! Meet Katt of Pocket Sized Observer. I met Katt on Instagram through a mutual friend. I saw her work and thought she was super talented. I love her bright colors and adorable illustrations. I knew it fit perfectly with my love for cute things. So, we started chatting and when I decided to move forward with this feature I knew she needed to be a part of it. Please allow me to introduce you to Katt! (make sure you read all the way to the bottom for information on entering our giveaway!)
Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: I go by Katt or Katie but my real name is actually Katherina. I’m a 27-year-old girl who threw herself at the opportunity at being an entrepreneur and her own girl boss. I love art, cosplay, music, anime, a good book, Disney, hiking, travelling, delicious food, fashion, dance, kawaii (basically all things cute) and photography. I live with my boyfriend and cat in Kitchener, Ontario. I am fiercely passionate about animals, protecting wildlife and the environment. I really want to “be the change” and make a positive difference on this planet, while I’m here. I’ll soon be starting up a secret project, “project action” which will be a part of my Etsy shop so stay tuned :).
Q: How did you get started with your business?
A: I started out by making moleskine journals for a Christmas bazaar that my mom’s work was hosting a couple years back. At the time, I was going through some personal issues and had found solace in art and was doing it on the side. I got into making necklaces and art prints soon after and now, I’m happy to say that it’s my full-time job.
Q: What has been most rewarding about owning your business?
A:  There are so many things I find rewarding about owning my own business. Yes, it is difficult and it is a lot of work but I love the freedom and creativity of it. I was not built for a 9-5-office job!
Q: What is your favorite part of making your products?
A: I find coming up with ideas to be one of my favourite parts when making my products… that, and the actual creating process, as well. I love how endless the imagination is and how creative you can get.
Q: When not making adorable illustrations, how do you spend your time?
A: In my spare time; you can find me spending time with family and friends, binge watching all the anime, writing, playing video games, sometimes modelling, cosplaying, travelling when I can and gardening in the spring and summer seasons. To be honest, one of my favorite ways of spending my time is just being with my boyfriend and super tiny, and adorable feline, Alice. They are two of my hugest inspirations.
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: My favorite dessert… hmm… it has to be a tie between crème brulee and cheesecake. Ice cream follows shortly after! Thinking about this is making me hungry, haha.
Now that you know a little about Katt, I think you need to see her amazing artwork.

Bantam Businesses: FemmeDeBloom

They are small but mighty.

Hello Lovelies!

This is the first of many in a series where I share amazing small businesses. Today I am sharing one of my favorite Etsy stores, FemmeDeBloom. It features adorable Disney themed jewelry, cute little collar clips, and so much more!! I first discovered the store when I interacted with the owner, Melanie, on Instagram. Melanie is absolutely wonderful and I’ve loved getting to know her. She is extremely talented and I adore her products. Now I would like to introduce you to Melanie!

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A: Ah, where to begin! Well first and foremost, I am a full time doctoral student living in Southern California, studying to be a clinical psychologist, which takes up most of my time. However, I am also the owner and creator of FemmeDeBloom on Etsy which is something that is very important to me! Other than that, I am a huge Disneyland nerd and try to go as much as possible! I also love vintage/thrift shopping, Star Wars, the Beatles, animals, and playing the piano!
Q: How did you get started with your business?
A: It all started with these handmade ornaments I made for my friends three years ago that were personalized and Minnie Mouse themed. They loved them so much and encouraged me to try to sell them. So I kept that in mind and decided to try opening an Etsy shop the following year to sell them, and ended up selling 500 of them! It was insane but so much fun! So after Christmas was over I decided to start making jewelry and accessories to continue with the shop!
Q: What has been most rewarding about owning your business?
A: I think I have two: meeting new people and getting to express my creativity! I’ve met so many amazing people online and in real life through Instagram and the shop and its been so great to connect with other crafty people! I feel like the shop has opened up opportunities like this that I never would have had if I didn’t have the shop! Also, using and expressing my creativity has always been an important part of my life and now that I have the shop I have an outlet to express myself on a regular basis, which is amazing!
Q: What is your favorite part of making your products?
A: I think my favorite part is getting to share them with others because I truly value the feedback I get from people! I’ve gotten so many ideas based on custom orders because people are seriously brilliant! It’s also just a great way for me to relax! Making pieces for the shop is a stress reliever for me!
Q: When not making awesome jewelry, how do you spend your time?
A: Well, as I stated before I go to Disneyland a lot since I have an annual pass! Other than that, I try to spend as much time as I can with my family, my boyfriend, and my friends. I’m a huge movie buff and I have a bad habit of binge watching TV shows! I really enjoy live music and playing the piano when I can! I also spend as much time as I can with my Dog, Oliver, and my Cat, Delilah, because they are the best pets ever!
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Ah…dessert. Dessert is my favorite dessert! Just kidding. Kind of, ha ha! I love all dessert to be honest and don’t discriminate. However, if I had to pick a favorite it would be a tie between cheesecake and macarons!
I loved learning more about Melanie! She is a super rad chick and I love supporting her business. Here are just a few products you can find on her store!

3. Twinkie Chan’s creations are amazing! I mean, look at how cute this Cupcake Coffee Cozy is! Talk about fancying up a drink.
4. I’ve shared this necklace before but I love it so much I felt I needed to share it again. It is a wooden camera necklace. WHHAAT? How cute is that?
5. I recently discovered this shop; FemmeDeBloom. These little cupcake earrings are the perfect accent for a simple outfit.
6. Peter Pan is one of my favorite books. That is why I love this print! Wouldn’t it look cute above your desk?
7. So.. I love the show Parks and Recreation which is why I think this print is just the coolest! It is a print of Amy Poehler’s character during the Pawnee Goddess episode.
8. So, this is the best print of Dwight Schrute I have ever seen. It is by the amazingly talented Kate of sweet and lovely.
9. I first discovered this artist at Comicon. Brittney Lee is incredibly talented and I just love her work!
10. Ron Swanson is possibly my favorite character from Parks and Recreations and this print perfectly sums up his character.
11. This print includes one of my favorite quotes from the IT Crowd. If you haven’t seen the show then you should probably look it up. 🙂
12. I adore these headbands!!! I want to get one and I will call it my party headband.
