Today I thought I would discuss one of my favorite hobbies; photography.
I love capturing the beauty around me. It could be a park bench or two lovers laying on a blanket.
Either way capturing the moment or memory really brings great joy to me.
I feel like, in a way, my photography can express who I am.
I am someone that loves flowers, bright colors, good coffee, great food, simple items around the house, and friends.
Taking photos and attempting to find beauty in the everyday forces me to focus on the positive.
I am a happier person since I started taking photos on a regular basis. My 365 Project has come to an end but I am going to continue to try and take a photo every day and share those photos with you.
I hope they bring even just a little spark of light into your life.
January 27th, Day 361:
As an early birthday surprise Fletch bought us Comicon tickets!!!
He told me that he bought them because he knew I would probably go buy them myself.
It is good that he told me because I was going to surprise him for Valentine’s Day.
Now I have to come up with a new gift idea but either way I am completely excited to be attending Emerald City Comicon this year!
Want to know why? Karen Gillan, the marvelous Amy Pond from Doctor Who, will be there to take a photo with!!!
I am so freaking excited!!
Anyways, this is the best present he could have gotten me.
He is truly the sweetest.
January 28th, Day 362:
You may know from a few previous posts, like this one and this one, that Fletch and I are busy planning our wedding.
Man does it take a lot of work!!
Anyways, we went to talk with a custom jeweler and decided to go forward with making a custom ring for me!
I am beyond the moon and so excited to have this little piece of jewelry to represent our love. To get the ball rolling I bought the diamond and the next step will be deciding on the method of making the ring. From there it gets made, they place the diamond and it is all mine!
I am so excited!
January 29th, Day 363:
I’ve shared my little DIY garland before but I just love it and had to share again.
Always love. A simple sentiment yet a beautiful one.
I really enjoy taking photos in front of it and sharing this little piece of of personality with others.
It is one of my favorite parts of the apartment!
January 30th, Day 364:
I found a store on Etsy that was selling very simple, beautiful 14k gold bands for only $39!
I jumped at the opportunity for a new piece to add to my jewelry collection so, I bought one!
I finally got it in the mail and I could not be happier!
The ring is gorgeous and it came in an adorable little box with a personalized card!
I love when stores do this.
It really makes the piece special.
January 31st, Day 365:
In no way is this an exceptional photo.
It is alright but it won’t win an award.
I am finishing my 365 Project off with this photo for many reasons.
I think that the message of capturing the awesomeness in everything is a great way to end this year end project.
I set out to improve my photography skills and to train myself to see the beauty in the little things in life.
I would like to think that I succeeded in both respects.
I am a happier person because of this project and I have developed a hobby that I absolutely love.
If you are even thinking about doing a 365 Project I urge you to.
It will open your eyes to a new world and help you develop as a person.
I will continue to take photos and attempt to take them everyday.
Have a wonderful day!
January 11th, Day 345:
All packed for my first business trip!!
I am so excited!
January 12th, Day 346:
This is one angry chocolate Santa!
January 13th, Day 347:
Here is the view from my hotel in Solana Beach, California.
I am so very thankful to have a job that encourages me to grow.
January 14th, Day 348:
Yup. The beach was just down the street from our training facility.
January 15th, Day 349:
This trip went by so quickly! I am off to Washington and the gloom.
January 16th, Day 350:
I had Thursday off so I grabbed lunch with Fletch!
We ate at Gateway to India, our favorite Indian restaurant in Tacoma, and ended our lunch date with a tour of his work!
I met some of his co-workers and saw where he gets work done.
It was a great way to spend my day off!
January 17th, Day 351:
Fletch and I were cleaning out the freezer when we found some pretty old ice cream.
Fletch went to check inside and found wicked freezer-burn.
The logical next step was to put Superman in the middle of the frozen wasteland and take a photo!
January 18th, Day 352:
Saturday was a very busy day for me!
I enjoyed coffee with Chelsea, lunch with Sarah, and coffee again with Amanda!
It was great catching up with these ladies and I feel so very lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life.
One thing I want to improve this year is keeping up with my relationships.
It is easy for me to sit at home and focus on wedding planning but I need to make sure I get out and spend time with those important to me.
Life passes by too quickly and I want to make sure I get the most out of every day!
January 19th, Day 353:
Fletch and I had an amazing time enjoying dinner with our new friends, Adam and Sarah.
We chatted about our favorite movies and enjoyed a few delicious milk shakes.
It was a wonderful Sunday.
January 5th, Day 339:
My dear friend, Nicole, and I had an amazing time catching up and enjoying a yummy meal.
I love evenings like this. Spending quality time with my friends and hearing about their lives really makes me happy.
The dessert wasn’t bad either.
January 6th, Day 340:
I already told you about one of my favorite coffee shops, Cafe Brosseau.
It is located right down the street from me and has yummy sandwiches.
I also found a new friend in the barista, Sarah.
We have a lot in common and she seems really great!
I took a photo of me enjoying my coffee from her because not only was it delicious but the interaction with her really brightened my day.
January 7th, Day 341:
I am someone that believes that there is good in the world.
I’ll be honest though, sometimes it is hard to see.
I am happy to share that on this day I experienced kindness from strangers.
Becky and I were sent to grab coffee for the department and decided to go through the drive-thru at Starbucks.
It was raining and we really didn’t feel like getting wet.
Anywho, we pull up to the window and learn that the car in front of us paid for our drinks.
I guess it had gone on for a few cars and we just happened to be one of them!
When I worked at Starbucks I will say that one of my favorite memories while working there was when I had 30 cars pay it forward and pay for the car behind them.
It is a small and simple gesture but can make someone’s day.
I am so thankful for that stranger that started it. Becky and I really needed to get out of the office and experience some good.
Thanks to that stranger, my day was brightened.
January 8th, Day 342:
I received my second Umba Box and I am so excited about it!!
I received this adorable calendar!!
I can’t wait to enjoy it for the next year!
January 9th, Day 343:
Fletch and I went for our first tasting with a caterer!
We had an amazing time and enjoyed some really delicious good.
I actually wrote a post about the experience if you want to read more about it!
Click here to check it out!
January 10th, Day 344:
There is nothing better than a quiet evening at home with friends.
Fletch and I spent the evening playing Cards Against Humanity with his sister, Shelly, and drinking mimosas.
It was wonderful!!
This game is a ton of fun but be warned. It is dirty and awful. You have to have a bit of a filthy mind for it.
So, what is new with you? I would love to hear about it!
