Hello Buttercups!
Over the weekend I attended Texas Style Council in Austin. It was not exactly what I expected but much more than I hoped. The things I learned are un-measurable and difficult to describe.
I learned how to believe in myself and hold other bloggers up while also encouraging myself. I made connections with individuals that are kind, thoughtful, supportive, funny, smart, and so much more. These are relationships I hope to continue to foster for the rest of my life.
So now, lets get down to what happened. This is a basic overview of my weekend and I plan on sharing more detailed accounts of things next week (ish).
On Thursday morning I began my journey to the airport. It was a long day of flying filled with an extensive lay over in LAX. I spent my time in LA drinking coffee and reading The Hobbit. That is a pretty good way to spend my time, if I do say so myself.
I arrived at the Austin airport shortly after 6pm to my amazing, long-time friend Porsche waiting for me at baggage claim with her adorable baby girl, Briella. I told Porsche all about seeing Brandy (the singer) on the airplane, we hugged, and quickly headed off to my hotel for some room service and chatting. It was the best way to spend my night.
The next day I headed off to Texas Style Council. I met up with some attendees at the airport before catching the shuttle. It was awesome getting to know so many amazing ladies. I got to know them even more over the course of the weekend and hope to grow and learn from them in the future.
The weekend was filled with lots of amazing stuff so I will share a few of my highlights:
The terrific Bethany from TOMS shared some amazing, inspiring words and gifted us all beautiful TOMS backpacks. Seriously a great cause that you should check out.
Meeting all of the awesome bloggers that I now call friends, I hope that we can all become each other’s friendtors and champions with our endeavors. They are pretty rad ladies.
I was reminded of why I started blogging. I started because I loved writing and wanted to share my thoughts and ideas with friends and family. That is why I started. Not to gain a million followers or to become famous. The fact that you all read my blog is more than I could have ever hoped for and I appreciate every single one of you.
I met the wonderful Jasmine from ModCloth. She was so sweet and encouraging and I look forward to getting to know her more in the future. Also related to ModCloth, I entered their “name that dress” competition and won!!! I couldn’t believe it. I received a beautiful purse and the dress! Big thank you to ModCloth for picking my name, “what does the fox wear”, and for always being such a wonderful company that celebrates ladies of all shapes and sizes. You inspire me to be myself and believe in my own strength.
So those are a few of my highlights. It was an amazing experience, one that I will treasure forever. It has only been a few days since my adventure to Austin but I already feel re-inspired. I am ready to re-focus and work harder than ever.
Have you had a similar experience?
